The Y environment you are used to looks different. Several state-mandated restrictions are in place as well as increased cleaning and safety measures. It is important, although lengthy, that you read carefully all of the information below. For the safety of our members and staff, as well as to comply with state-mandated requirements, the following must be adhered to by anyone coming to the Y. These may change as additional guidance is provided by the State of Ohio or if the State reduces restrictions.

  • For the safety of others, anyone entering the Y must wear a mask in the facility, even if it's just to get to a group exercise class or workout area. If possible, please wear the mask the entire time you are at the Y.
  • While in the facility, a social distancing requirement of 6ft or more from other people in the facility will be enforced, including in locker rooms. If you must use a locker room, please limit your time to only what is necessary.
  • Everyone entering the Y will be screened. There will be a short list of questions to answer verbally and your temperature will be taken using a non-touch thermal thermometer. Anyone entering the facility will also be asked to sanitize their hands upon entering. Please stay home if you are not feeling well for any reason or have a fever.
  • Everyone entering the facility for their first visit will be required to sign a waiver. Please don't arrive more than 10 minutes prior to any class or program.
  • Capacity in the facility will be limited. You may have to wait until someone leaves before you are able to enter. Your patience and understanding to these state mandates are appreciated as we are required by law to abide by them.
  • Showers are available. After using a shower, please place a cone in the stall to indicate to our staff it was used. Our staff will clean shower stalls after each use. Please do not use any showers marked as closed or that have a cone placed in the stall.
  • Please come to the Y ready to exercise/swim, leave anything not absolutely needed in your car, and only use the locker rooms if absolutely necessary.
  • The steam room and sauna are not available per state requirements.
  • The gymnasium will be closed per state requirements but will be used for structured programming as state and local health requirements allow.
  • The racquetball courts are open but limited to 2 people per court.
  • Group exercise classes have limited space and will be first come - first served.
  • Lap swimming is restricted to a max of 2 people per lane. Be prepared to wait for a lane to open if there is no space. Aquatic exercise classes will be limited.
  • Televisions in the facility will not be able to be adjusted by members.
  • No equipment can be checked out at the desk. Please bring your own racquetballs, racquets, etc. While we will supply equipment for group exercise, if possible, please bring your own equipment. Members using Y equipment for group exercise will be required to clean it before and after use.
  • Seating throughout most of the facility has been removed. No loitering or "hanging out" will be permitted per state requirements.
  • Members must clean any machines, weights, bars, dumbbells, etc. before and after use.
  • Drinking fountains will not be available, however our water bottle filling station is available. Please bring your own water or purchase a refillable water bottle at the front desk.
  • Day passes and guest passes will not be sold until a later date TBD.

Health and safety is always a priority for us and now is no exception. Additionally, we are encouraging everyone to do their part in helping prevent the spread of germs and viruses. We are following state mandates and doing our part to keep everyone safe. First; a reminder that no matter what cleaning we do, no matter what precautions we take and you take, everyone who interacts in a public setting takes a risk of exposure to any variety of viruses and germs. Here's what we are doing:

  • All staff receive training on COVID-19.
  • We conduct routine disinfection of high-contact surfaces using EPA approved disinfectants. Our goal is to disinfect all of these surfaces, restrooms, and locker rooms every two hours by brining in extra staff who do nothing but clean their entire shift.
  • We have added additional disinfectant spray bottles throughout the facility for members to also clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces before/after they touch them.
  • We have added hand sanitizing stations throughout the facility in addition to the main entrance.
  • We have marked floors where possible to direct the flow of people through the facility.
  • We will conduct a deep cleaning of the facility at the close of business each day.
  • We will be setting up equipment for group exercise classes prior to class and allowing time in between classes for disinfecting. We will also be staggering group exercise class start times to prevent large groups from entering the facility at any one given time.
  • We will limit the use of fans in the facility and have opened fresh air dampers on air handling systems per state recommendations.
  • We have disabled some day use lockers to promote social distancing.
  • We have evaluated and upgraded our process for the handling and cleaning of towels to ensure that separate bins are used for soiled versus clean towels, ensured that the washing machine and dryer we use get to an appropriate temperature, ensure that bleach is used in addition to laundry detergent, and that employees handling towels have masks and gloves.
  • We are requiring our staff to wear masks unless doing so is unsanitary or unsafe.
  • We are screening all employees, including their temperature, each time they report for work.
  • We have established procedures to handle any potential exposure to our members or employees.

Child Watch will be open limited hours and we will slowly expand hours and capacity as we are able to safely do so.

  • When child watch is open it will be limited to children ages 18 months to 10 years old.
  • Only four children will be permitted at one time with a 1.5 hour maximum.
  • Every child age 5 or older will be required to wear a mask while in child watch regardless of age.
  • Every child must have their temperature taken at the front desk before entering the facility.
  • If you child is not feeling well or shows any signs/symptoms of illness please do not bring them to the Y.
  • Parents will be asked to take their child to the restroom across the hall from child watch to have them use the restroom and wash their hands before entering child watch.
  • Every child must be signed into child watch upon arrival and signed out when leaving.

Visit our website and check our social media pages often for updates to pool and group exercise schedules moving forward, as well as programs as we slowly bring them back in a safe and responsible manner. Y members can also access virtual programming through our website and YouTube channel.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and help us keep everyone safe while we navigate the coronavirus and state mandates that change regularly. We've missed you at the Y and look forward to seeing you soon.
